Why Pakistan fits Central Asian demand
Pakistan has a large pool of experienced construction tradesmen, many with years on Gulf projects, and one of the region's biggest textile workforces. Spinning, weaving, stitching and finishing skills from Faisalabad, Lahore and Karachi transfer directly to new mills in Uzbekistan. Flight connections are short compared with Europe or the Gulf.
Trades in demand
- Kyrgyzstan: steel fixers, shuttering carpenters, masons, construction helpers, heavy and light drivers, and maintenance technicians.
- Uzbekistan: weaving machine operators, textile and garment workers, stitching operators, factory production operators and warehouse staff.
Permits
Both countries regulate foreign labour through the employer. In Kyrgyzstan, employers work within the national quota for foreign workers and obtain work permits before arrival. In Uzbekistan, the employer obtains authorisation to hire foreign workers and the worker then receives the appropriate visa. Rules and fees are revised periodically, so we confirm the current procedure with the employer before sourcing starts and plan the timeline around it.
Testing before selection
Construction candidates are tested on site practicals: bar bending and fixing, shuttering assembly, block and brick work. Textile candidates are tested on the machines and counts you run, and we can record tests so your production manager can review them remotely.
Housing, food and communication
Most workers will not speak Russian, Kyrgyz or Uzbek on arrival. Employers who appoint an English- or Urdu-speaking supervisor and provide halal food and shared accommodation near the site see the best retention. We brief candidates in detail on conditions before they accept.
Timeline
Sourcing and trade testing usually take two to three weeks from a clear demand. Total time to arrival depends mainly on the permit stage. Large requirements are best split into arrival waves of 30–60 people.
